News: I have found a great game, not based on Star Trek but it is very fun and challenging. It is called "Space Empires IV" by Malfador Machinations. You create a name and race style, and start on a homeworld. Then you build up your resources and colonize other worlds, start military conflicts, and create alliances. I highly recomend you at least download the demo, you can find a link in my links page or my games page.
